Don't know if this hits you where you are at, but we've been watching Terry Rush's DVD "100% Natural Evangelism" and this is a verse he uses that I find applicable to life/ministry in general.

Ecclesiastes 4:6 One hand full of rest is better than two fists full of labor and striving after wind.

God will do it!

oh, yeah.. Love all the comments. I am dying to know who it was that prayed for the fields, and who they called "humble." If you think it's better to wait for them to tell the story that's fine, too...:)
Thanks for writing, Marty.

Maybe peace rules best when we really know that God rules -- he is ruling over the Watchi and he is ruling in Rwanda, and he is ruling in you and your family -- so be at peace, brother.

This is awesome, Marty. I love hearing that God worked through an unsuspecting intern -- I can just picture him thinking, "Should I pray for their fields? why not?!"

And I loved the loose translation. :)

I've read about a dozen of your lovely, thoughtful posts now, and it reminds me of two things -- prayer works wonders, and I need to pray more for those in the front lines of the battle.

As for peace, that is something I've learned a few lessons about, and I remember realizing a few years ago, at my best friend's funeral, that peace doesn't actually pass understanding until things around us cease to be peaceful. The peace is not external in this life, it's internal, and it's in God. It's calm certainty in the midst of battle, not an end to fighting. But I suspect you knew that. It's just interesting to learn about others facing these lessons.

May God keep you and bless you as transition to Rwanda.

thanks Becky. Well said. Some of the burdens tend to sneak up on us and we think we aren't so anxious until we are overwhelmed. Then we move into crisis prayer mode. Wouldn't it be great if we lived in that prayerful realm where the Spirit would aid us in identifying those mini-fears that are trying sneak in so that we could deal with them in prayer immediately? Love you guys and thanks for the prayer cover.

Hey bro! Thanks for the comment. God does tend to overwhelm me with the simple. Maybe it's b/c I'm not ready for the complex? Our blessings of peace to you and your family. Rwanda thoughts lately?
